Ingredients
All of the rainbow colors in these dip recipes come from natural coloring, just like in this related collection of savory rainbow recipes. You can feel good about that, because it’s not true many of the rainbow foods and rainbow dessert recipes that use food coloring.
Red dips are often made with tomatoes and roasted red peppers. The red dips in this collection also get their red color from cranberries and red kidney beans.
Orange dips can also be made with tomatoes or red peppers. But you’ll see below that some orange dips can be made with carrots, orange sweet potatoes, or red lentils
The Yellow charcuterie dips in this collection have the greatest variety. They get their yellow color from golden beets or lentils, cheese or mustard.
The king of the Green dip is, of course, a guacamole. But you can create a green dip from spinach and other herbs and greens or even whirled peas.
Blue and Purple dips are pretty uncommon. Blueberries can give a purplish tone to your dips and sauces, but it’s really the purple cauliflower that represents for the color.
What to serve with rainbow dips
Use a rainbow of cold dips for a rainbow charcuterie board. Or go simpler by pairing just a dip or two with a rainbow veggie tray, pita chips made from homemade pita, or even kale waffle chips.
