Ingredients

  • 4 strips bacon
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 button mushrooms chopped fine
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ cup cheddar or other cheese shredded
  • 1 avocado chopped
  • pickle slices
  • lettuce chopped
  • dressing see Notes

Instructions

  • Cook the bacon in a large skillet until crispy and remove to a plate lined with paper towels to drain. Pour off all but a tablespoon of the fat.
    4 strips bacon
  • While the bacon is cooking, prepare the other ingredients for your cheeseburger bowls. Mix the ground beef, chopped mushrooms, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a small bowl. Shred the cheese and chop the rest of the burger toppings.
1 pound lean ground beef, 2 button mushrooms, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, ½ cup cheddar or other cheese, 1 avocado, lettuce
  • When the bacon is done cooking and you've poured off the bacon fat, heat the pan over medium heat and pull off small chunks of the burger mixture. Let the burger chunks cook for a few minutes without stirring, then flip over to brown another side. Repeat a few times until no traces of pink remain.
  • Add the shredded cheese to the burger chunks in the pan and let melt for about a minute.
  • Serve hot as either composed burger bowls, or you can let folks add their own favorite toppings to their burgers in a bowl!

Notes

Nutritional information for this cheeseburger bowl will vary depending on your burger toppings and dressings.
For dressing suggestions, I recommend my campfire sauce, but feel free to use a thousand island dressing for a Big Mac salad, a blue cheese dressing, etc.
