Plug in and pre-heat your waffle maker.
Melt the unsalted butter in a small pan and let cool slightly.

Measure the cup of milk into a 2 cup glass measuring cup, then beat in the eggs and vanilla.

Add the canned pumpkin puree to the dry ingredients along with the butter and liquid ingredients and combine just until mixed. Then stir in the chopped pecans and/or chocolate chips.

Cook in your waffle iron per the manufacturer's directions.
