These boozy bourbon apples make the quickest and easiest dessert using fall's crispest apples. Just serve with ice cream or a bit of whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 large apple
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon bourbon whiskey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Instructions

  • Peel and core the apples and chop them coarsely into half inch chunks.

  • Melt the butter in a frying pan large enough to accommodate all of the apple in a single layer.

  • Add the apple chunks, bourbon, and brown sugar and stir to coat.

  • Cook for 10 minutes on low-medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples are softened to desired consistency and the syrup has started to caramelize.
  • Serve warm, with slightly sweetened whipped cream or over vanilla ice cream.

Scale up this recipe, using about one half to one apple per person, depending on the size of the apple and whether you are serving these bourbon apples with ice cream or whipped cream.
