Ingredients

Sumac Sauce

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup low-fat yogurt or Greek yogurt plus more as desired, see notes
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons lemon juice plus more to taste
  • 1 small clove garlic, finely minced or crushed
  • 1 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon ground sumac
  • ½ teaspoon salt plus more to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper plus more to taste

Instructions

  • Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl and stir to combine.
    ½ cup sour cream, ½ cup low-fat yogurt or Greek yogurt, 1 teaspoon lemon zest, 1 to 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 small clove garlic, finely minced or crushed, 1 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, 1 tablespoon ground sumac, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Taste and add more lemon juice, salt, or pepper as desired. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

This recipe will make a little more than one cup of lemon sumac dressing.
Nutritional information was calculated using low-fat traditional yogurt.
If you like a thicker sumac sauce, use Greek yogurt over traditional yogurt. If you want a thin sumac dressing, use the traditional yogurt or thin the dressing even more with buttermilk.
